Streaming BDO to the Big Screen

One of my favorite ways to wind down at the end of the day is hit the grind in Black Desert Online... Grab a drink, grab my controller, put my feet up in front of the TV and game on.

In order to stream to your TV you need a few things.

First you need a GamStream compatible graphics card from Nvidia (at least a GeForce GTX 600+ GP).  Second you'll need GeForce Experience installed on your computer. Finally you'll you need the device you want to stream to with Moonlight installed. You can stream to pretty much any device that supports 720p or higher resolution (Android, iOS or another PC).

For my set up, I stream to a Tronsmart CX-919 Android Box and game using their Mars G01 Wireless controller. It is an Xbox style controller so fairly intuitive to use and is recognized as such by most systems.

For a quick setup you'll need to enable Shield GameStream in your GeForce Experience Settings, Connect to your PC in Moonlight and verify the pin code on our PC. Because BDO is not a GameStream ready game you will need to set up access manually. I do this by streaming Remote Desktop Connection so that I have access to my PC's desktop and run BDO in full windowed mode.

To set that up you'll configure the application shortcut in GameStream as follows:

Give your Application a Name (Shield PC here), set the target to point to RDC ( C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe ) and to start in C:\Windows\System32\.

Once this is set up you should be able to stream your desktop to your device and have access to any game that runs in windowed mode.

For BDO remember to enable Gamepad in your user settings before you actually do this. Playing BDO with a controller takes some getting used to but with a bit of practice it is very viable. Some classes lend themselves to it better than others I believe; I have put in hours grinding with both Warrior and Wizard (pre-awakenning) and both have played well. Hope you find this new way to enjoy the world of BDO as enjoyable as I do! - M.
