Why does this bother me?

The FDA is set to approve genetically modified salmon for human consumption. "Food from AquAdvantage Salmon . . . is as safe to eat as food from other Atlantic salmon"... "It looks like an Atlantic salmon. It tastes like an Atlantic salmon." ( story here ).

On paper this sounds really good. They are developing advanced-hybrid salmon, trout, and tilapia designed to grow faster than traditional fish. Their salmon should reach market size twice as fast as normal salmon. These fish would be grown in inland fish farms and be sterile so they can't contaminate natural stock in the event of breach of containment (does everyone have a copy of their zombie survival guide?).

Really, this kind of stuff shouldn't bother me. I mean, it's nothing compared to imaginations of using a Replicator to pop out my next coca-cola. This is the way we are going - fully synthesized food via molecular assembly. So this genetically modified fish shouldn't bother me... is it the difference between creation and manipulation? In essence aren't they both the same thing?
