The Return

When he return to Ireland
Some came to greet him
Tall youths nearing manhood
Came to meet him.

They knelt to kiss his ring,
Receive his blessing;
He knew them not,
Forgetfulness confessing.

"We were the childeren.
Many years ago
When you were slave to Miliuc
You taught us what we know."

"But why the shamrock
On your tunics gay?"
"You used it as a symbol,
Showing us the way
of the true Cross
And the Trinity."
